John Taylor

We know very little about John. When he was 22, he married Mary Kirkendall on February 8, 1833 in Ancaster, Wentworth County. His witness was his brother, Michael H. Taylor, of Barton1. His brother, Thomas, had married Mary’s sister, Elizabeth, making them doubly related2.

During the Rebellion of 1838, he was a private in the 3 Gore Militia, along with his brothers, Joseph and Henry3. John worked as a carpenter, and shared a workplace with his brother, Thomas4. In fact, they were so close that he lived with Thomas’ family in 1851, sometime after his wife died5.

We do not know if he and Mary had any children, nor the date of their deaths.
