Joseph Taylor

Joseph’s life was pretty straightforward, as the facts go. He was born (1804) and died (August 3, 1884) in Barton Township1. At 25, he married 18 year old Elizabeth A.2. He worked all his life as a blacksmith 2,3, and lived in the Taylor family area: Lot 6 and 7, Conc 6 in Barton3,4. During the Rebellion of 1838, he was a private in the 3 Gore Militia, along with his brothers, John and Henry 5.

In twenty years, his wife gave birth to nine children: William Henry (1831), Harriet C. (1833), Margaret E. (1835), Louisa Jane (1838), John Obadiah (1841), John Wesley (1843), Lewis Edwy (1849), and the twins, George N. and Walter C. (1851). Walter died in 1853, and Harriet died several years after her marriage, but at the time of his death at age 78, Joseph predeceased the rest of his children 3.
